From this Generation IM article I really notice how much 21st century kids (including me) rely on technology. It has truly taken over and changed the way in which children's minds work. It has become a norm rather than a privilege.
In science classes technology can be used to enhance the lessons. Every day in science they are learning how to do new things in the lab such as learning cures to diseases and just looking more clearly and closely at bacterias and other objects. Videos can help make scientific processes more clear to the children. Also the use of activboards and other technology tools really brings the students into focus and intrigued more by science as they love using technology ( watching TV and playing video games) outside of school as some of their hobbies as well.
Do you find any negatives in the technologic push with kids in the 21st century? Does technology inhibit other life skills and values?
ReplyDeleteI loved how you said that technology has become a norm rather than a privilege. That is a well worded observation. With that in mind, do you think in classrooms it should become the norm or a privilege? I don't know about your school district but for us technology or at least good technology was a privilege and not the norm. Does the state have a duty to provide every district current technology or just hope for the best?
