Reflection #1

In my instructional design class I found it very helpful that my professor, Professor Garrett showed us how to use a document camera. Including, how to lift it up, zoom it in and much more. Not only did she use the document camera very well, but she also knew it was an important little peice of technology that could easily be overlooked, but it is very important. I like when Professors stop for little teaching moments that will greatly benefit me as a student. This encourages me to take little teachable moments even if it seems off task, because evn the little things can be greatly valued and appreciated by students.

  1. Jordyn,

I also wrote about this "teaching moment" in one of my Reflections. I thought it was helpful and encouraging for a professor to take the time to teach us future teachers the ways of technology. I think that many times people assume because we are a part of the younger generation that we know how to use all forms of technology. I know personally I am quite inept on many new technologies. I also think that as we become teachers we must be ready for each student and the levels of technology they have been exposed to. Some students may have been using an iPad and the internet since they were 3 while other students are still unfamiliar on how a cell phone works. As teachers we must recognize and capitalize on these teaching moments and learning opportunities.

    Lauryn :)
